Founded in 1972 by Nolan Bushnell & Ted Dabney, Atari at first specialized in the development of games and arcade cabinets. They released what became the first ever video game in 1972: Pong, a tennis like game. Later ATARI became part of gamers history when in 1977, they released the first ever cartridge based home console: the iconic Atari 2600!
